Transcribe of “How To sell on ebay australia | Delivery Time Secrets – To Beat Competitors”
Hi guys, Neil Waterhouse. I’m doing a series of videos about how to sell more on eBay by bidding on competitors listings. Because over 95% of eBay listings are not fully optimized, and you needed to know one more optimization technique, then you competitor to beat them. But before I get started, make sure you hit the “Subscribe” button for the no fluff ad free channel, that puts out weekly videos teaching step-by-step how anyone can build a seven digit automated online drop ship business from their home from scratch and using less than a hundred dollars. So let’s launch straight into it. For anybody new watching this video, who’s not familiar with eBay search engine.
EBay search engine is called Cassini
EBay search engine is called Cassini. One of the four core values that drives eBay’s development and tweaking of the Cassini search engine is convenience. This week’s video is about how to sell more on eBay, by optimizing your listings for convenience. And I’ll show you how it dramatically affects where your listings appear in the search results. And of course listings that appear higher in the search results get more clicks and more buys.
How to optimize eBay’s listings freebase Cassini search engine
If you’re not familiar with how to optimize eBay’s listings freebase Cassini search engine. I’ll also put a link at the end of this video to a previous week’s video. So, when somebody searches eBay for anything, one of the core values that eBay takes into account, is what eBay calls convenience. That is how fast the buyer will receive their item.
There are several things we as eBay sellers can do to optimize any eBay listing
And there are several things we as eBay sellers can do to optimize any eBay listing, to make the listing appear higher in the search results. Let me show you, here’s an example of an eBay listing. If I do a search for say pool temperature gauge, up comes a whole lot of listings in the eBay search results. If I click on say the top one, as you can see if I order this item eBay tells me it has an estimated arrival date of October 25. If I scroll down further in the search results and click on another listing from another seller. eBay gives me an estimated delivery time of October 29.
eBay best match search results works is for the convenience aspect
Now the way that the eBay best match search results works is for the convenience aspect is eBay gives more weight to any listing that can be delivered to the customer, the fastest. And the good news is there are several things a seller like you and me can do, or easily do, that changes the date the buyers will see and therefore where your listing appears in the search results.
What is the item location that you are using in your eBay listing?
Let me show you, first of all, what is the item location that you are using in your eBay listing? If you do not change the item location when you list an item eBay wil use a default post code or zip code that you set up in your eBay account. However you can revise any eBay listing and change the post code.
eBay thinks the item is located in the wrong area
I’ve seen many sellers make the big mistake of not changing the postcode and they’ve not realized that eBay is penalizing them because eBay thinks the item is located in the wrong area. As an example, one lady I helped a while back lives an hour west of Cairns, which is located near the very tip of Eastern Australia. This lady is drop shipping with the majority of the products being shipped from Melbourne. So what was happening was if a buyer located in say, Melbourne searched eBay and found one of her listings, eBay was adding an extra five days onto the shipping time because eBay thought she was shipping from Cairns.
This one simple change over 10x her business
This one simple change over 10x her business. The next way we can bring forward the delivery date is what handling time are you showing in your listings. To see the handling time of your competitor, gain your competitor’s listing and click on the “See Details” hyperlink. Here you can see that this seller ships in three business days. If this was changed to one business day, it would reduce the estimated delivery time by two days. Which bumped the listing higher up the search results.
Putting the handling time that you or your supplier can achieve
Of course only putting the handling time that you or your supplier can achieve. To change your handling time you can do that at any time when listing or revising your listing, by simply changing the field that says “Handling Time”. The next thing we can do to optimize this convenience aspect is what shipping provider are you selecting when you list your items? This seller has selected Australia Post Standard Parcel.
E-bay will often reduce the delivery times to be the same as express
Now, depending on your postcode, if you choose a Courier, instead of Australia Post Standard, E-bay will often reduce the delivery times to be the same as express. Again, this can save days of the delivery times. EBay doesn’t just take into account Australia Posts Express, it also looks at Couriers and calls them express as well. And this is of course, you know, bumps your listing higher up the search results.
Only select the transportation company that you or your supplier is using
Of course only select the transportation company that you or your supplier is using. If you want to see what delivery date your customers will see, just go to one of your eBay listings, click on the “See Details” hyperlink, and then enter any post code and then click get rates. Now you’ll be able to see the delivery date that your buyers will see, and you can experiment with making these changes to see your delivery dates change.
Make sure you’ve had an express option
The fourth thing that we can do to sell more on eBay for optimizing convenience is to make sure you’ve had an express option. By the way, apologies if there’s any wind today. I’ve been actually waiting to try and get a shot. But it stopped raining so I’m sort of in between rain storms so apologies if there’s some wind noise. Anyway so where was I? Yeah, so here you can see that this seller has added an express option and in this express option does more than just offering the customer an express option.
eBay Premium Service Badge
If you want to have the eBay Premium Service Badge to show in your listings, which also bumps up your listings higher in the search results. One of the four factors that you need to have on your listing is an express option. You’ll notice that some sellers want to have this eBay Premium Service Badge so their listings get bumped up higher in the search results. However, you can also tell that some sellers don’t want buyers to take them up on this express option.
They offer express but they make an expensive
So they offer express but they make an expensive, like $500, like this seller. Now I’m not going to go into optimizing for the eBay Premium Service Badge in this videos, I’ve done that before. But if you miss it, I’ll go and put a link on the screen and below. The next thing you can do to optimize for the convenience attribute is making sure that the eBay account that you’re using does not have a shipping penalty delay attached to it.
Look at the delivery times for one of your listings
Now to find that out, look at the delivery times for one of your listings, and then listen to another similar item on your spare eBay account and check the delivery time there. Now, if your main account is showing a longer delivery time than your spare account, contact eBay and ask them what you need to do for them to remove the throttle from that account. If you want to know more about optimizing eBay listings to sell more on eBay, I’ll put a link on the screen to previous week’s video, explaining the 16 times rule of how to increase sales on eBay listing by a factor of 16.
If you want to know more about how to sell more on eBay by optimizing listings for eBay’s search engine that is called Cassini
