Hi guys, Neil Waterhouse. In this video I want to show you how to increase your selling limits on eBay to get more sales. I’ll also show you how. And where to see what your current eBay selling limits are. So first of all, many new eBay sellers don’t understand why eBay imposes these selling limits.
All about trust and safety for both eBay and eBay’s customers
The reason is. It’s all about trust and safety for both eBay and eBay’s customers which of course are our customers. Unfortunately over the years there’s been many unscrupulous sellers all over the world who have started eBay accounts with false identification. Then they’ve sold items, collect their money and of course disappeared. And they either haven’t sent the products or they’ve sent some dodgy kind of products.
EBay and PayPal manage trust and safety to protect both sellers and buyers
Over the last 20 odd years, I’ve seen a lot of changes with how eBay and PayPal manage trust and safety to protect both sellers and buyers. Now back when I started, back in the late nineties. They only way we could get a merchant account. So we could accept credit cards from buyers was we had to have 10,000 dollars locked away in a low interest term deposit for security to the credit card company. This 10K was secured by the bank just so we had the ability to accept credit cards. We could not use these funds for anything else like purchasing imagery. This went on for many years.
Thanks to PayPal, life is much easier for people starting off on their online careers
But these days thanks to PayPal, life is much easier for people starting off on their online careers. No longer do you need to offer the banks thousands of dollars for security when you’re starting out. Increasing your eBay selling limits works very similar to increasing your credit card limit. If somebody’s just out of school. I’d say 18 years of age, walks into a bank asking for a credit card. The bank might give them a credit limit, say 500 dollars.
The more time that goes by and the more they use their credit card and the more repayments that are made on time, the quicker the bank puts up their credit card limit
The more time that goes by and the more they use their credit card. And the more repayments that are made on time. The quicker the bank puts up their credit card limit. Exactly the same principle with eBay for their trust and safety algorithm. It sets the algorithm which determines everybody’s eBay selling limits. The more transactions that you do and the more happy customers that you create. The quicker eBay puts up your selling limit.
The more transactions that you do and the more happy customers that you create, the quicker eBay puts up your selling limit
However, you must definitely can speed up the prices of getting your limits raised higher. And very often you can get your selling limit raised today. I’ll show you on this video. So first of all. To see what your current selling limits are. Go to the eBay seller hub. If you don’t already have the link to the eBay seller hub. I’ll put it on the screen.
EBay seller hub
Notice that the link on the screen is for .com.au for Australia. However, if you’re not in Australia, just google eBay seller hub. And Google will show you the link to the eBay seller hub in your country. For this demonstration, I’ll use the eBay demonstration account. To find the seller limits for this demonstration account. Just scroll to the bottom right hand corner of the seller hub homepage. Here you’ll be able to see what the limits are for the eBay account which you’re currently logged in on. Here you can see the limits for the demonstration account.
To get your seller limits increased, the quickest way to do this is just call up eBay
To get your seller limits increased, the quickest way to do this is just call up eBay. Now the first big part of the eBay trust and safety algorithm is that verification process. If your eBay account or your PayPal account is missing any details like phone number, bank account, drivers license number, etc, etc. The eBay trust and safety algorithm will automatically give you a lower selling limit.
The eBay trust and safety algorithm will automatically give you a lower selling limit
Rather than trying to figure out whether your eBay and PayPal account have all the verification fields populated correctly yourself. Just jump on the phone to eBay and they can quickly see on the screen if everything is populated correctly. Now very often they’ll ask you a few more verification questions. And then very often they will instantly put up your limit while you’re on the phone. You can also if you wish, change the registered name with your eBay account. From a personal name to a business name.
Step one is call eBay and make sure your eBay account and your PayPal account are 100 percent verified
This also very often increases your seller limits further. So step one is call eBay and make sure your eBay account and your PayPal account are 100 percent verified. To get the phone number, just click on the blue “request to list more” hyperlink which I’ll put on the screen. Then just follow the prompts. Now also, eBay will automatically reassess your selling limits on the 20th of each month. However if you hit your selling limit again before the 20th, just get on the phone again. And very often eBay will raise your limit again while you’re on the phone. That’s all for this week.
